When I was 6 years old, we had lived in an apartment complex where the people who lived on both sides of me also had kids the same age as me and my brother. We were all friends and played together all the time.
One day, while my mom was drinking coffee with a neighbor at her apartment of number 4 ( we had lived in apt. 3) and we were all playing card games on the kitchen floor, our other neighbor from apartment 7 came in asking if we had seen her 3 year old son, Sammy. None of us had seen him, so we started to help her look for him around the neighborhood.
About 20 minutes in, my neighbor from apt. 4 found him and pulled him out of a front yard pond from a house across the street. Sammy didn't make it and his family moved out immediately after that day. We stayed in touch for a few months following but gradually lost contact.
Quite some time had passed, when one night, I had a dream about the little boy, Sammy, who had passed. In the dream I saw about a dozen men dressed in white robes, carrying a stretcher towards a white room. As they walked past me, I looked down and saw Sammy laying on the stretcher. He had a transparent like cheesecloth covering him, but I could see his face.
He was giggling and laughing as he looked up at me. I looked at the men in white robes and said to them "he's alive, where are you taking you him?". They ignored me as if I was not there. So I continued to watch and observe.
Once in the white room, they walked over to a white mattress on the floor, where another much older man in a white robe was laying. They placed the stretcher next to him and the man on the mattress was playing with Sammy as he giggled away. It felt like he was Sammy's father, and I stood there in the dream saying "but his dad is not dead".
I told my mom about my unusual dream, and a couple of days after the dream, she decided to call our ex-neighbor (Brittany? Bethany?). She hadn't spoken to her in several months, so she really didn't know if it was okay to talk about Sammy, and just went with the flow. After a little while, she mentioned she now has a daughter, but that the new baby would never replace the son she lost. My mom decided to tell her about my dream. She had to my mom listened intensely and didn't interrupt her until she finished, and then she broke down in tears.
She said "I don't see Sammy in my dreams anymore. I haven't seen him in a long time. My father recently died and we buried them side by side. Yesterday I visited their grave, and begged my father to let me know they're together and that he's looking after my son. I asked for a sign, for communication because I don't see their spirits and I don't dream of them anymore. Today is the anniversary of my son's death and all I wanted was a sign that he was okay, and that he was with my father, and today I got that message from you!".
I had no idea that her father had passed, but I now understood that the man I saw in my dream was the boy's grandfather. Our ex-neighbor (pretty sure her name was Bethany..?) considered it completely normal to have visions and communication with the spirit world. None of this is considered taboo to me either actually, as I now believe that anyone can have interactions with the spirit world even if they do not know it. Thanks for reading the long post and I hope you all take comfort in knowing your loved ones are never far away from you ~ so close but so far away!
