Normal or Different Christmas Traditions And Memories

Well, another Christmas is done. It gets different every year that I grow older. This year was no big family get together. Just me and my spouse, my Aunt Michelle, a couple of close friends, and our dog and cats. I did decorate the house some and put up the Christmas tree. We had a pot roast for dinner and peppermint ice cream for dessert. We all recalled memories of Christmases past, family and friends and pets gone. Remembering traditions, the sights, sounds, scents and tastes of memories of Christmases gone. It was kind of sad... but also was nice!
Recently, I read a terrific article in our local newspaper online about how, during WWII, when people were living through that nightmare, a number of songs were composed meant to reassure them that one day all would be normal again. Although we are not at war, we are certainly in a time when we dream about life being 'normal' again.
As we are currently celebrating the Holidays,
let's remember those who may not be home... our armed forces, police officers, firefighters, nurses, utility workers... all who give up their holiday season so we can have ours. I am extremely grateful for the knowledge of God, a roof over my head, food in my belly, and an adequate circle of family and friends both close to me and scattered afar.By the way, does anyone else put fluffy cream on top of there cup of hot cocoa or is it just me? I like the fluffy cream better than marshmallows because it’s soft and melts easier. I think marshmallows usually are too stale and don’t add as much flavor like the fluff does. I got this Christmas mug as a gift. 😁
May God bless and keep you all now, and into the new year of 2026!

I understand what you are saying. It’s often said at certain points in life. There’s two of us and our 4 cats. You can decide what you would like Christmas to be. So many abandon traditions because they are in a different circumstance. Keep the traditions, decorate the house, etc. Do not abandon Christmas, continue making new memories. New memories are always to be made!
